PESHAWAR: A Sikh community member was killed after unknown armed men opened fire at him in the jurisdiction of Yakatoot police station here on Saturday evening, officials said.

They said the attack took place a day after a Sikh shopkeeper sustained minor injuries when unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire at him in the jurisdiction of the same police station.

Manmohan Singh was going to his home in a rickshaw when he came under attack by unknown persons in Guldara area, according to a statement issued by the city police.

It added the body was shifted to a hospital for postmortem.

The statement said senior police officials reached the spot and started investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the Bomb Disposal Unit of the police defused a bomb in Lalma area of Adezai village, some 27 kilometres south of the provincial capital, on Saturday morning.
