ISLAMABAD: This year, the admission test to medical and dental colleges (MDCAT) will be held on August 27, as per last year’s syllabus, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) announced on Thursday.
At the second meeting of the PMDC council, it was decided that for the sake of students across the country and in view of the shortage of time they face, the syllabus adopted last year would be used for this year’s exam as well.
According to a statement issued by PMDC, this was done because last year’s syllabus has already been approved by the academic board. A new board is yet to be constituted by the federal government and, as such, it would not have been possible to come up with a new syllabus on such short notice.
The registration portal of MDCAT will open for 15 days in the first week of July.
The PMDC has written to the federal health secretary, as well as all provincial health secretaries, requesting them to nominate one university that would be tasked with conducting MDCAT in their respective province, as per the approved syllabus.
