ISLAMABAD: A man was killed while five persons were injured in separate robbery incidents in the capital city, police said.

In the first incident, two men on a motorcycle intercepted Mohammad Rizwan, an online cab driver, at I-14 and robbed him of a mobile phone and Rs4,000.

The gunmen forced him to move along with them in his Mehran, the police said. Rizwan hit the robbers’ motorcycle when they reached Chistiabad on G.T Road. As a result, the robbers fell on the road and sustained injuries. However, the robbery victim lost control over the wheels and as a result his Mehran collided with a wagon. After the collision, the Mehran skidded off and hit two motorcycles.

Four riders of the two motorcycles fell and one of them died on the spot. The others, including a woman, sustained injuries. In the meanwhile, the robbers escaped.

Over the incident, the police registered a case in response to a complaint lodged by Mohammad Rizwan, the robbery victim, under section 392, 322, 279, 427 and 337G.

The robbery victim was also booked under sections 322 (punishment for qatlbis sabab), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 337G (punishment for hurt by rash or negligent driving).

In another incident, robbers shot and injured a man at Burma Town, the police said, adding the injured was identified as Obaidur Rehman, owner of a farmhouse.

Three persons armed with weapons raided the farmhouse when he and his partners were selling animals and held them up at gunpoint.

The gunmen tried to snatch a bag carrying Rs1.8 million from Rehman, however, he put up resistance on which the robbers shot and injured him. The robbers then looted the cash and escaped.

Likewise, a gang of robbers shot and injured a man during a robbery at Sangjani. The injured was identified as Zeeshan Shahzad.

He along with his brother was purchasing a sacrificial animal at Sangjani when three armed persons held them at gunpoint.

The siblings tried to run away when the robbers asked them to hand over the cash and valuables to them.

However, the gunmen shot and injured Shahzad and snatched his mobile phone and escaped.
