QUETTA: A police constable was injured in a hand grenade attack at the ‘smart’ police station of the provincial capital, on Saturday.

“Unidentified people hurled a grenade at the police station from an overhead bridge, that landed and exploded close to the security room of the police station, leaving one police constable injured,” an official said.

Security forces rushed to the site after the explosion, cordoned off the area and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital, Quetta.

The ‘smart’ police station is adjacent to Governor House and Balochistan Secretariat, which are considered Red Zone areas.

A post of the Frontier Corps was also located at the bridge from where the grenade was thrown at the police station.
