TAXILA: Two persons drowned in separate incidents in Attock on Tuesday, police and hospital sources said.

In the first incident, a 14-year-old boy drowned in river Indus near Attock Bridge in the limits of Attock Khurd police station.

Police sources said Mohammad Ahsan, a resident of Wah Cantonment, came to the river Indus for a picnic along with his family where he went to the river to take a bath where he drowned. On getting information, Rescue 1122 divers reached the spot and recovered the body after hectic efforts and later shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital Hazro. In the second incident, an 18-year-old man drowned in river Indus near Marri village in the limits of Attock Saddar police station.

Police sources said that Ghulam Jaffar along with his friends came to the river to get respite from scorching heat where he drowned.

Later, his body was flushed out by Rescue 1122 and shifted to district headquarters hospital.

Robbers’ gangs busted

Police busted a gang involved in robberies and arrested their three members besides recovering looted items and weapons utilised in the various robberies and street crimes in Taxila and Wah.

Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Sub Divisional Police Officer DSP Ghulam Asghar Chandia said that a team of Wah Cantonment police busted “Hassan gang” involved in various robberies and street crimes in twin cities of Taxila and Wah and arrested their four members.

He said that during interrogation, the gang confessed to having been involved in various robberies in residential as well as commercial areas.
