LAHORE: Police claimed on Sunday to have recovered a boy who was kidnapped from Cantonment last week and arrested the suspected kidnapper.

Four-year-old Yousaf was playing outside his house last week in Cantonment when a woman kidnapped her. Police had registered a case against the unidentified persons.

DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi told a press conference that 28 teams were constituted to recover the boy. He said the teams first collected footage from the Punjab Safe Cities Authority cameras, launched the investigation and tracked the kidnappers.

He said the suspect, Uzma, had kidnapped the boy and took him to Rawalpindi. “The police teams chased the woman by investigating 50 people of 11 gangs and tracked her.”

The DIG said the latest technology was used to track the kidnappers and recover the boy safely. “The woman had kidnapped the boy for ransom and the police were also trying to arrest the other people involved in facilitating her,” Mr Rizvi said.
