SAHIWAL: On the call of the All Government Employees Grant Alliance (AGEGA), hundreds of college and school teachers boycotted the ongoing central board marking of intermediate papers across Punjab on Thursday.

Dawn learnt the PPLA leadership from Sargodha, Sahiwal, and Gujranwala divisions had already joined hands and stopped central marking in all centers.

Rao Ijaz, President of Punjab Professor and Lecturer Association, Sahiwal division, told Dawn thousands of Punjab government employees were protesting in the provincial capital for a 35 per cent raise not on initial but running basis, 17 per cent increase in pension and abolition of new rules on pension and leave encashment by the caretaker government but none is listening to their genuine demands.

He regretted that media was not covering their protest.
