He is still fighting in open seas, searching for artefacts on land, and trying to jump airplanes. The whip-cracking archaeologist is back with lots of globe-trotting and engaging with the evils of society, but this may be the last time.

The movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny carries the same action and adventure sequences, which made the character famous. There is a tuk-tuk chase in Africa, a runaway sequence on a horse in the subway, and fist fights in the air.

Set in the late 1960s, it begins with Professor Indiana Jones retiring from teaching but since he has had a troubled life, it is reflected in his character. Things change when the ‘aged’ Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) meets Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), his goddaughter and the daughter of his old friend Basil Shaw (Toby Jones) after a long time, and she makes him join hands in search of a long forgotten artefact. Accompanied by a young sidekick Teddy (Ethann Isidore), Helena and Indiana Jones travel to unknown places together and try to find lost artefacts one last time.

Unlike its earlier versions, this Indiana Jones film is not directed by Steven Spielberg; James Mangold has been at the helm of affairs. Dr Indiana Jones may be probably donning his brown fedora hat and leather jacket for the last time, but that’s what they said 15 years back when he went on an adventure with his wife and son. The treasure-hunting by the trio as well as John Williams’ iconic theme, takes the viewer back in time.

Although wiser than ever, Indiana fighting the Nazis in flashback sequences brings smiles to the faces of many. Like the Ark of Covenant or the Holy Grail, there is Dial of Destiny this time to keep the viewers at the edge of their seats.

The movie has all that is needed in an Indiana Jones movie, with the first one debuting some 42 years back. So far, the film feels like a send-off to Indiana Jones’ character, but you never know what has been planned for the future.

The movie also brings out the emotional angle of Indiana Jones, who is not the usual self in his expeditions. There is a short appearance of Antonio Banderas, as well as Karen Allen, also seen in Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
