BAHAWALPUR: Nine passengers, including three women, suffered critical injuries when the bus in which they were travelling hit a truck on Khanewal highway near Bhatti hotel in Lodhran district on Saturday.
According to Lodhran Rescue 1122 media coordinator Muhammad Safdar, a bus of Zamindara Travel was on its way to Pakpattan from Karachi. Near Bhatti hotel on Khanewal highway, the bus driver hit a truck in a bid to overtake it. As a result passengers identified as Muhammad Kashif, Nawaz, Dilawar, Rizwan, Sakina Bibi, Fatima, Iqra, Muhammad Ali and Ishaq suffered injuries, who after first aid were shifted to the Lodhran DHQ hospital.
The Lodhran police reached the spot and took the bus driver into custody.
SUICIDE: A man identified as Altaf Hussain (45) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his house near Shell pump on Jalalpur Mor in Lodhran district.
As per Rescue 1122, a team reached the spot and found Altaf dead. His family claimed that he was mentally challenged and he locked the room door and committed suicide.
The rescuers handed over the body to the Lodhran police. Further investigation is under way.
SUSPENDED: The Multan Electric Power Company has suspended Haroonabad SDO Imran Farooq from service with immediate effect.
Mepco PRO Jamshed Niazi in a press release said Imran was suspended on account of alleged negligence and poor performance and ordered to report to headquarters.
