RAWALPINDI: Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman has said a detailed audit of all commercial buildings constructed in Murree should be conducted to take action for violation of the approved designs and building bylaws.
He said special attention should be given to renovation of the hill station besides planting of flowers and plants to restore its old beauty.
He said this while presiding over a meeting in Murree in which illegal constructions, traffic problems and the renovation of the town were reviewed.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chattha, Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema and other officials participated in the meeting.
The chief secretary said the crackdown against illegal constructions in Murree should be intensified and it should be made effective in every case.
He said commercial buildings that have not made any regular space for parking should be demolished immediately.
He said the patchwork on streets should be completed soon and all the roadside buildings should be painted so that
they can become an attraction for tourists.
The chief secretary said a renovation plan should be made to increase the beauty of Murree, adding necessary funds will be provided for this purpose.
He said the scope of the monsoon plantation drive should be expanded and more trees should be planted.
He said special measures should be taken regarding cleanliness in Murree. Garbage should not be seen at any tourist point and an effective system of garbage removal and disposal should be put in place.
The commissioner told the meeting that all institutions were active to restore the natural beauty of Murree and PHA had made special arrangements to grow roadside flowers during monsoon.
The deputy commissioner added that the administration had adopted a zero tolerance policy against illegal constructions in Murree. He said a regular traffic control system had been set up and important steps were being taken to prevent unnecessary rush and parking.
