GUJRAT: The Gujrat Tax Bar Association has sought improvement in services at the National Tax Number (NTN) Cell of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in the Gujrat zone.

It says the current process of updating taxpayer profiles or making corrections has been a major problem for taxpayers.

Currently, taxpayers in the zone are required to visit the Sialkot Regional Tax Office (RTO) for profile updates or correction, leading to unnecessary time and cost wastage.

This cumbersome procedure has raised concerns among taxpayers, who are seeking a more efficient and localized approach to address their issues, Tax Bar President Khurram Taufiq Malik and General Secretary Tahir Hassan Butt said in a statement.

In a request directed towards the Finance Minister of Pakistan, the Chairman of Federal Board of Revenue, and all relevant authorities, the Gujrat tax bar highlights the urgent requirement for an National Tax Number Cell in the Gujrat zone.

The presence of an National Tax Number Cell within the region would enable taxpayers to conveniently update their profiles and make corrections, eliminating the need to travel to the Sialkot Regional Tax Office .

They also emphasized an issue related to the rectification of errors in the computerized payment receipt (CPR) for income tax or sales tax challans.

Taxpayers face difficulties in rectifying errors in their challans, which leads to prolonged process and unnecessary hassles.

Additionally, the association is pleading for the appointment of a local registration officer (LRO) within the zone. This step would reduce the burden on taxpayers and ensure a smoother process for profile corrections and updates.

By having an local registration officer stationed in Gujrat, taxpayers would no longer need to travel to the Sialkot Regional Tax Office , saving both time and money.
