PESHAWAR: Former Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Shah Faisal was arrested by the Hangu police on Monday in connection with the May 9 riots, which were triggered following the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Shah Faisal was wanted by the police for his alleged role in the May 9 riots.

He evaded arrest for more than two months. But was finally arrested under the 3MPO (Maintenance of Public Order) Ordinance, the police said.

The Hangu police had been actively pursuing Shah Faisal since the May 9 incidents.

Mr Faisal’s arrest is significant as he is the brother of late MPA Farid Khan, who was killed by terrorists in 2013.

Shah Faisal was elected twice to the provincial legislature from Hangu.
