GUJRAT: At least three youngsters died after being run over by trains in two incidents — one of them committing suicide, while the others turning oblivious to the approaching train while sitting on the track because of using earphones attached to their mobile phones.

Rescue 1122 officials said two youths — 18-year-old Afnan Warraich and Samiullah (15) of Gurala village — were sitting on the track near their village, listening to something on their cell phones using earphones.

Meanwhile, a Pindi-bound train coming from Wazirabad reached there, but they could not notice it chugging and were crushed to death.

Since the houses of both the victims were located near the railway track, the heirs took away the bodies soon after the incident and even before the arrival of the rescue team.

In the other incident, a 25-year-old unidentified youth committed suicide by lying on the track passing behind the local Nadra office.

Rescue 1122 team reached the spot and shifted the body to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital where his identity was yet to be ascertained.
