KARACHI: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Raja Riaz has said a meeting between him and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was expected on the first of August for consultation on the caretaker PM’s name, Dawn.com reported.

He told Independent Urdu on Thursday: “A meeting or two more will be held to decide whether we agree on a name.”

His statement comes as political parties, particularly those in the ruling coalition are engaged in consultations ahead of the general elections.

Mr Riaz said he and the premier have to recommend three names for the caretaker PM each, adding that if they did not agree on a name, the matter would be referred to the ECP.

“The commission will select a name from the six proposed by us, as per the rules” he said.
