KARACHI: Nawab Mohammad Jahangir Khanji was laid to rest at the Junagadh state graveyard in Moach Goth, off Hub River Road, here on Friday.

The funeral prayers at the Junagadh House, on Fatima Jinnah Road, were led by religious scholar and former federal minister Haji Hanif Tayyab.

Besides family and friends, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, senior PPP leaders Qaim Ali Shah, Saeed Ghani, Rangers Director General Major General Azhar Waqas, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar and people from various political parties, civil society and the business community also attended the funeral.

The coffin of the late Nawab was draped with the Pakistan flag.

Earlier, the main hall of the Junagadh House also witnessed a small but important ceremony in which the late Nawab’s son, Mohammad Ali Murtaza Khanji, was crowned with the Nawab’s turban and given the title of the new Nawab of Junagadh.
