IT seems that the schedule of power loadshedding has gone from bad to worse. Till recently, the power used to go off from 2pm to 3pm and from 8pm to 9pm, which was not very tough to bear. But the schedule has changed for the worse, and is quite disturbing. Power outages take place three or four times at night randomly but usually after midnight. This interrupts the sleep schedule of the students who live in Patiala House near Bagh-i-Jinnah. This place houses hundreds of students who prepare for the country’s top civil services.
The weather becomes unbearable when electricity goes off. The Punjab government, particularly the authorities concerned, should do away with this random and frequent interruption in electricity supply late at night as it affects the physical, psychological and emotional health of the people. If the students are unable to sleep properly, how will they study during the day?
