KARACHI: A suspected robber was gunned down in an alleged encounter in North Karachi on Sunday, police said.
The Khwaja Ajmer Nagri police said that the encounter took place between the police and the robbers in Sector-4 near Rehmania Masjid. After an exchange of firing, one unidentified robber was killed while his accomplice managed to escape from the scene.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Two men shot by robbers
A 35-year-old man, Haleemullah, an online food supply rider, was shot at and injured by armed robbers over resistance in North Karachi, Sector-7 on Sunday, Sir Syed police said.
He was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
Separately, 37-year-old Javed was shot at and wounded when he resisted a robbery bid in Abdullah Goth, Scheme-45 on early Sunday morning, Gulshan-i-Maymar police said.
The injured man was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
Attempted lynching
In a separate incident, an angry mob got hold of two suspected robbers and beat them up in Gulshan-i-Maymar.
The police said that the area people handed over the two suspects to police in injured condition.
The wounded suspects, identified as Nazeer, 18, and Amir, 25, were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
SITE-Superhighway Industrial Area SHO Aurangzeb Khattak said that the police had recovered a pistol, cash, mobile phones and one motorbike from their possession.
