TOBA TEK SINGH: At least 20 people suffered from food poisoning, seven of them falling unconscious, after taking meal at a funeral at Jarranwala`s Chak 283 RB on Sunday.
Rescue 1122 officials said scores of people had gathered to attend the funeral of a deceased relative where meal was served.
After taking the meal, some 20 people started vomiting, while seven of them fell unconscious, who were shifted to the Jarranwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
The others were provided first aid by a Rescue 1122 team called on the spot.
Local police suspects that some poisonous material got mixed in the wheat during grinding, and the flour used for making roti also turned toxic.
BOY DROWNS: A boy drowned in the river Chenab floodwater at Mouza Pirkot Sadhana near shrine of Pir Shaheedan in Jhang district on Saturday.
As per locals, Abdul Rehman (11), son of a farmer, Zafar Iqbal, was returning home from flooded fields when he drowned in the river Chenab floodwater.
Locals fished out the boy`s body on their own.
Meanwhile, A young man died in Shorkot on Haveli Wala-Pattan Road, following a collision between two motorcycles.
As per locals, two motorcyclists collided with each other and when they fell on the road, a van ran over them.
As a result, both were seriously injured and one of them, identified as Attig (28), a resident of Abdul Hakim, died instantly. The other, Hussain (26 ), was shifted to Shorkot Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
ARRESTED: A customs Intelligence team claimed to have arrested three passengers returning from Sharja at Faisalabad airport, recovering non-custom paid mobile phone sets, I-pads and other items worth millions from their luggage.
An official said that the customs team recovered 971 mobile phone sets, 80 I-pads and drone cameras, all worth millions of rupees, from the luggage of three passengers -Usama Tariq Alvi, Ashraf and Sheraz, who returned from Sharja.
He added that all the three men belonged to Rahim Yar Khan.
Meanwhile, two empty wagons got disjointed from a Karachi-bound goods train between Sangla Hill and Chak Jhumra railway stations on Sunday.
As per railway sources, the train driver came to know about the disjointed wagons after covering around three kilometres distance. Later, the train`s locomotive was sent back which brought the two wagons back, which were reconnected to the train at Chak Jhumra railway station.
MURDERED: A man was murdered at Chak 360 JB, Gojra, allegedly by his brother-in-law over a farmland dispute on Sunday.
According to Rescue 1122, Naveed (27), a resident of Chak 91-GB, Jagatpura, had come to visit his in-laws to settle a dispute of his wife`s inherited farmland.
During the discussion, he exchanged harsh words with his brother-in-law Ghulam Abbas, who pulled out a pistol and shot him. As a result, Naveed was critically wounded.
A Rescue 1122 ambulance called on the spot shifted the injured man to the Gojra THQ Hospital, where doctors referred him to Faisalabad Allied Hospital. However, he succumbed to his bullet wound on the way to hospital.
