DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Police killed a wanted terrorist during a search and strike operation in Kulachi tehsil here on Monday, an official said.

He said on a tip-off that armed suspects were present in the forest near the Yadgar police checkpost, a heavy contingent of police led by DSP Kulachi Sagheer Abbas Gilani and SHO Faheem Mumtaz Khan reached the spot and surrounded the area.

The official said the police launched a search and strike operation in the area. He said the terrorists opened fire on the police, which responded promptly, leading to an exchange of fire.

The official said the police response forced the terrorists to flee.

He said while the police were chasing the terrorists in the forest, they found the body of one of them.

He said the terrorist was identified as Mohammad Ramzan of Mohallah Ibrahimzai, Kulachi tehsil.

The police official said the terrorist was wanted in around 14 cases, including theft, robbery, murder and attempted murder.

The police have registered a case and started further investigation.
