OKARA: The death toll of the boat capsizing incident in the river Sutlej floodwater rises to eight as the Rescue 1122 and Pakistan Army teams on Saturday retrieved five more bodies of the victims, while six persons were still missing.
Bodies of three victims were recovered on Friday after the boat carrying more than 40 persons had capsized after hitting an electricity pole on Thursday night near Sujekey village in the district.
The rescuers and army teams using the sound navigation and ranging (sonar) technology traced the bodies in the floodwater and retrieved them with the help of local boatmen.
The bodies were identifies as Tasleem, Zara Fatima (8), Ashraf (40), Javaria (7), and Ghulam Rasool. As per official sources, six persons were still missing and search operation would continue to find them.
