SUKKUR, Feb 1: The Sindh government has banned the entry of 160 ulema of different sects in nine districts of the Sukkur region for two months. The districts are: Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Khairpur, Ghotki and Nawabshah.

This was stated by Sukkur DCO Shafiq Khoso at a meeting held here on Wednesday in connection with maintenance of law and order during Muharram. The DCO directed police and district administrations to adopt measures to maintain law and order and ensure peace and harmony during the month.

The meeting was informed that Rangers would help police in maintaining law and order. The ulema banned from entering the Sukkur region include Syed Mazhar Hussain Shah and Shafqat Hussain Zaidi of Karachi and Prof Abdul Hakeem and Saeed Ahmad Shah of Hyderabad.

In this connection, letters have been sent to the ulema concerned by the Sindh home department.
