THE hydrant at Maskan, which supplies water to parts of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, including blocks 4 and 4-A, is a source of misery for the people of the area because those at the hydrant have failed in their duty to supply water.
Every day there is a problem — electricity shutdown, machinery out of order, no supply from the bulk supplier, obstructions in the pipeline, etc. The amazing thing is that tankers have no problem in getting water and supplying it to the houses. A tanker costs Rs3,500 and people have no choice but to purchase water from the tankers.
Normally, water is released at eight in the morning on alternate days, but if it is not supplied, then we have to wait for two days. How long can we go on paying for tankers? The higher water supply authorities should intervene.
