PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration on Saturday imposed a ban on sale and use of pressure and toy horns and silencers on motorcycles till Tuesday (August 15).

A notification issued by the district administration said that the office of the Peshawar’s deputy commissioner had received complaints from field officers as well as the general public that the use of pressure and toy horns besides silencers on motorbikes used by the general public, especially children, for celebrating Independence Day was causing nuisance.

“It has been observed that noise caused by the pressure, toy horns and silencers is unwanted, unpleasant and annoying, which causes hazardous noise pollution,” the notification said.

Thus, the notification said that the deputy commissioner imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, banning use of all such material till Tuesday.

The deputy commissioner said violators of the order would be proceeded against under section 177 of Pakistan Penal Code.
