MALNUTRITION: The devastating consequences of malnutrition, particularly for children and women, demand immediate attention. To combat malnutrition, we need both short-term solutions, such as targeted food assistance programmes and school feeding initiatives, as well as long-term strategies, including sustainable agricultural practices, education and awareness campaigns. Collaboration among government agencies, NGOs and international organisations is crucial in implementing comprehensive and sustainable interventions. It is time for us to prioritise the pressing issue and invest in the wellbeing of our nation’s future generations. Together we can make a difference and create a healthier and more prosperous Pakistan.

MENTAL HEALTH PRIORITY: According to a report by the World Health Organisation (WHO), suicide rate in Pakistan was 8.90 per cent in the year 2019. The most common reason behind it was depression. Many people in Pakistan still think that there is no such thing as depression. Parents believe that the love and affection they give to their children is, and should be, enough, which is not always the case. Teenagers suffer from mental health issues due to problems that they do not feel comfortable in sharing with their parents, and slide into depression, which then spreads in society. Therefore, family elders should prioritise their children’s mental health over anything else.

STRAY DOGS: In Islamabad’s G-8 area, hundreds of stray dogs roam the streets, posing danger to the people, especially to children who play in the streets in the evenings. An untoward incident can happen anytime. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and other relevant agencies should look into the matter and take swift action.
