PESHAWAR: Awami National Party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter president Aimal Wali Khan on Sunday questioned the logic behind making a sitting senator as the caretaker prime minister.
Addressing a public meeting at the Bacha Khan Markaz here, he said that it seemed that by making a sitting senator the caretaker prime minister a message was conveyed that the Balochistan Awami Party was non-political, which was not the case.
He also welcomed the removal of KP caretaker ministers, advisers and special assistants on the orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan. He said that the removal of caretaker cabinet was a step in the right direction.
Mr Aimal Wali claimed that KP had been handed over to Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam under the caretaker government. He said that currently two controversial personalities were occupying powerful positions in the province and they should also resign. He added that the KP governor belonged to JUI-F, while a nephew of the caretaker chief minister was the JUI-F’s ticket aspirant from Charsadda district.
The ANP leader said that both the chief minister and the governor should resign to ensure fair and free elections.
