DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A teenage girl was kidnapped from her house in Nusrat Town here, said an official of the Paharpur police station on Monday.
He said the 16-year-old was “kidnapped” when she was going to close the gate of her house.
The official said the complaint of the kidnapping was lodged by the girl’s father, Alamzeb Sheikh.
He said the girl shouted for help but as her mother went to the gate, the girl was not there and the gate was locked from outside.
The police registered a case and began an investigation. No one was arrested until night.
AWARD: Dr Shamoona Jabeen, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan district, received the Presidential Award for Excellence on Monday over her outstanding academic performance in 2008.
President Dr Arif Alvi conferred the award on her during a special investiture ceremony in Islamabad.
Dr Shamoona, a lecturer at the University of Science and Technology, Bannu, received two gold medals in 2011 from the then provincial governor for securing top positions in BSc and MSc exams.
She received her PhD degree in applied mathematics from the Beihang University Beijing, China. Her several research articles were published by international research journals.
The Chinese government gave away the Research Achievement Award in 2020 and Outstanding International Graduate Award in 2021 to her.
