TOBA TEK SINGH: The city police booked 17 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) activists on Monday for blocking Jhang Road while holding an Independence Day rally.

Complainant City Police ASI Muhammad Rafiq claimed in his FIR, registered under sections 290 and 291 of the Pakistan Penal Code, that seven nominated PTI workers, including district president advocate Mian Abdul Basit, his son Advocate Mian Rizwan, and 10 other unidentified activists, blocked traffic on both sides of Jhang Road.

Police arrested Mr Rizwan, while raids were being conducted to arrest the others.

Mr Basit led the rally from Faiz Colony to Jhang Road, with Tehsil PTI president Salim Kainth and City president Sufian Qadeer also among the participants. As soon as the police arrived on Jhang Road, all PTI activists dispersed within minutes.

KILLED: Robbers killed a man on Monday near Chak 46-JB in the jurisdiction of Nishatabad police.

Police said Waqas Anwar of Sargodha was riding a motorcycle with his wife on Pul Dangru Road when two bandits intercepted him. He did not stop, upon which they opened fire, seriously wounding him. He was taken to the Allied Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

ACTION: Faisalabad City Police Officer Usman Akram Gondal has taken notice of a video circulating on social media showing People Colony SHO Sufian Butter torturing a shop owner and his customers, as well as damaging his shop items.

A district police spokesperson said that the CPO has issued a notice to the SHO and directed Madina Town SP to investigate the incident and report back.

ACCIDENT: A motorcyclist died following a collision with a car on Small Industrial Estate Road in Faisalabad on Monday.

Rescue 1122 said that Javed Iqbal was injured and rushed to Allied Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

MAID RAPED: A maid working in a house in Faisalabad’s Samundri area has alleged that the house owner raped her and recorded a video on a mobile phone.

In her FIR, registered on Monday by Samundri City police under section 376 of the PPC, the complainant woman from katchi abadi claimed that the suspect from neighbourhood Ravi repeatedly assaulted her while threatening to make her video viral on social media.

Police are conducting raids to apprehend the accused.

DIES: A man died and his pillion rider was injured when their motorcycle collided with an electric pole in Gojra on Monday, on Moongi Bangla Road.

Rescue 1122 reported that Saifullah from Lahore, and his injured pillion rider, Yousaf from Jhang, worked as farm labourers in Chak 160-GB, Kaleki. They were on their way to Gojra when their motorcycle collided with a pole.

They were transported to the Gojra THQ Hospital where Saifullah succumbed to his injuries.
