HYDERABAD, Feb 2: The People’s Party Parliamentarians will launch a protest movement throughout the country after Ashura against the issuance of red notices to party chairperson Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari by Interpol.

This was stated by Sindh PPP finance secretary Abdul Khaliq Soomro at a news conference at the Soomro House in Tando Mohammad Khan on Wednesday.

He alleged that false cases had been registered against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Zardari. He claimed that the Swiss court had also taken no action against them because the cases did not hold water.

However, he said the government had defamed the country by asking Interpol to issue red notices to Ms Bhutto and Mr Zardari.

He said the party would challenge the issuance of red notices in the superior judiciary and hold protest demonstrations throughout the country after Ashura.

Criticizing the alleged violence against and arrest of party activists in Punjab, he said that it was reminiscent of a martial law regime.

He claimed that the party chairperson had accepted self-exile in the larger interest of the country but she had pursued the cause of democracy even from abroad.

Mr Soomro said that notwithstanding hurdles being created in the way of Ms Bhutto’s return, she would come back to the country soon to extricate it from the present morass.

MPA Abdul Qadir Soomro, Abdul Haq Soomro and other PPP leaders were also present at the press conference.
