QUETTA: Two officials have been suspended after five people, including four of a family, died from electrocution in the Dera Murad Jamali area of Nasirabad district.

Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has suspended the sub-divisional Officer and line superintendent responsible for the area’s electricity supply.

The power utility company’s CEO Engineer Abdul Karim Jamali had taken notice of Friday’s incident and initiated an inquiry.

The area’s chief engineer, operation director and representatives from the Safety Directorate have been ordered to assess the scene and furnish a comprehensive report for further action. The inquiry committee has been tasked with fixing responsibility for the tragic accident.

According to an initial assessment by police, the deaths were caused by a technical fault in a transformer.The people who lost their lives included a man, his wife and two children. Besides, another 60-year-old man also lost his life. They were identified as Abdul Hayee Sheikh, wife Bibi Shabiha, two sons Hafiz Abdul Qayyum, Hafiz Muhammad Azim, and Muhammad Ayub, 60
