ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear the appeal of PTI Chairman Imran Khan against his conviction in Toshakhana case on Aug 22 (Tuesday).

According to the high court’s cause list, a division bench consisting of Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri will resume hearing of the appeal along with the application seeking suspension of sentence for his early release from the jail.

Mr Khan had challenged the judgement of the trial court, requesting the high court to suspend his imprisonment sentence till the final verdict on his appeal.

In his appeal, the former premier said the IHC had referred a matter related to deciding jurisdiction and maintainability of Toshakhana case to the trial court and he was about to challenge this order before the apex court, but Judge Humayun Dilawar fixed the case for final arguments.

On Aug 5, the trial court jailed Mr Khan for three years in Toshakhana case, but he contended that the judge had done so “without providing proper or adequate opportunity of hearing”.
