KOHAT: A boy was killed after he was hit by a vehicle while running after a stray kite in Togh Bala area here on Sunday.
The aggrieved family appealed to the district administration to stop the sale of kites to save the precious lives. They also demanded registration of a case against the vehicle owner.
Meanwhile, thieves took away costly coils after lowering transformers from poles in Jarma and Kari areas here, putting the localities in darkness in the hot and humid weather, the residents complained on Sunday.
They demanded of the authorities concerned to arrest the thieves.
The residents said the modus operandi of the thieves was that they removed links from the transformers attached to the high tension lines, dismantled them and took away copper wire from them.
The residents said dismantling a transformer to get copper wire was not the work of an ordinary man as it required professional expertise.
Separately, the elders and ulema of Chambai village here have unanimously agreed not to perform nikah or offer funeral prayers of people if music was played at weddings.
During a meeting held here the other day, they said the restriction would also be applicable to playing of any kind of music.
They insisted they imposed the ban as music was not allowed in Islam. They also declared that the groom and the family of the bride could also be sent to prison if they violated the decree.
