BAJAUR: The brother of a policeman was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Inayat Kallay Bazaar here the other day.

Locals and police said that that the deceased identified as Nawab Khan, 30, was walking on a road when unidentified gunmen opened firing on him. He received several bullets in his head and died before he was shifted to district headquarters hospital Khar for treatment.

DSP Nimat Khan told this scribe that a team of police immediately rushed to the scene of occurrence after hearing gunshots but the attackers managed to escape. He said that a search operation was launched in the area to arrest the killers.

No one has claimed responsibility for the murder. The deceased was brother of Mir Wali Khan, police constable.

Meanwhile, a woman was killed and two people were wounded after a vehicle plunged into a ravine in a mountainous area of Barang tehsil the other day.

The vehicle was taking a narrow turn when it plunged into a deep ravine. A woman was killed and two other travellers, belonging to Takhat Bai area of Mardan, were injured in the accident.
