MARDAN: Mardan city mayor Himayatullah Mayar said here on Thursday that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP) would upgrade the living standard of people.
Chairing a meeting regarding KPCIP, he said that sewage treatment plant (STP), green urban spaces (GUS) and scientific sanitary landfill site (SLF) would be established under the project in 14 urban union councils of Mardan.
He said that Rs8.5 billion had been allocated for the construction of STP and work was already in progress on the scheme. He said that the GUS project would be executed at a cost of Rs58 million. He added that SLF would be established in Mardan at a cost of Rs3.5 billion.
The chief engineer of the implementation unit of KPCIP, Mohammad Khalil Akbar, briefed the participants of the meeting regarding the project.
The tehsil municipal officer, Sarfaraz Khan, the tehsil officer finance, Ayaz, and tehsil officer infrastructure, Haroon Khan, also attended the meeting.
The city mayor showed satisfaction over execution of the project. He said all the available resources would be utilised to provide best sanitation services to the residents of Mardan.
IGP: The inspector general of police, Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, on Wednesday said the newly-launched command and control system of the police would help check crimes.
Talking to journalists after the inauguration of the new building of the Baghdada police post, he said the ongoing reforms would help to address the challenges faced by police.
He said that the reward and punishment system in police was more effective compared to those working in other departments. He said that police were directly related to people and immediate action was taken against black sheep.
Mr Gandapur said modern equipment and technology would improve the investigation system of police to check crimes. “Modern scientific instruments are being provided to investigation staff to make the investigation process more efficient,” he added.
RPO Mohammad Suleman, DPO Najibur Rehman, SPs Inam Jan and Fayyaz Khan and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The IGP said that Mardan was divided into three divisions to make police monitoring system effective.
