SWABI: Four brothers were killed and another person was seriously injured when two families traded fire over possession of a tree uprooted by a windstorm on Thursday night, the police said.

SHO Swabi city police station Munsif Khan said the incident occurred in Maneri Payyan area.

He said a tree was uprooted due to storm at night and early in the morning members of both the families claimed ownership to it.

He said the rival groups exchanged hot words, which culminated into opening of fire. He said four brothers were killed in the exchange of fire.

SHO Munsif Khan said two brothers died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries while being taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, Swabi.

They were identified as Waliuallah, Sibtain Khan, Aamir Khan and Hamad Khan.

From the rival family, Naveed Khan was injured, who was taken to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, he added.

SHO Munsif said the police raided several areas, but none of the accused was arrested so far.

He said cross FIRs were registered by the two families.

Meanwhile, two persons were injured when two motorcycles collided with each other at Dab Lakhti bus stop in Razaar tehsil on Friday, rescue officials said.

They identified the injured as Asmatullah and Miraj Khan.

Also in the day, an aged man, identified as Rahim Shah, was injured when he was hit by a truck at Kunda Mor on the Swabi-Jehangira Road.

All the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
