KARACHI: Veteran Farhan Mehboob of Wapda continued his winning run as he piped Khushal Riaz to move into the semi-final of the second CNS All Pakistan Men and Women Squash Championship here at the Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex on Friday.
The-33-year-old Farhan wrapped up the victory in 23 minutes as he beat Khushal of Khyber Pakhutunkhwa 11-9, 11-4, 11-5 in their quarter-final clash.
Farhan will now face Nasir Iqbal, who triumphed over Punjab’s Mehmood Mehboob 11-7, 11-3, 11-7, in the first last-four clash.
In the men’s bottom-half of the draw matches, Israr Ahmed downed Mohammad Azlan Khawar 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 to set a date with Waqar Mehboob of Wapda. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Waqar came back from a set down to defeat Asad Khan 9-11, 11-7, 12-10, 13-11 in 45 minutes.
In the women’s top-draw last-eight clashes, Noor-ul-Ain went down a set twice in the all-Wapda clash before securing a 8-11, 11-8, 2-11, 11-6, 11-6 win against Saima Shukat in 27 minutes.
Wapda’s Mehwish Ali also advanced and ensured one player of the department makes the final after trouncing Komal Khan 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 in 20 minutes.
In the women’s bottom-half of the draw matches, Mariam Malik recorded a hard fought 11-5, 11-9, 8-11, 8-11, 11-9 victory over Roshna Mehboob of Punjab while Army’s Zaynab Khan routed Sindh’s Anam Mustafa 11-8, 11-3, 11-2.
