Ex-minister’s home comes under attack in Quetta

QUETTA: One person was injured in a grenade attack at the residence of former minister and Balochistan National Party (BNP-Awami) President Mir Asadullah Baloch on Saturday.

The house situated in Jinnah town area came under attack when some motorcyclists hurled a grenade in its backyard while Mr Baloch was meeting party leaders at the time of the attack, police said. Windowpanes of his house and nearby buildings were damaged due to the impact of the blast, but no loss of life was reported, according to the police.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Party officials have claimed that one person was injured in the attack but didn’t reveal his identity. Police have initiated an investigation into the attack.

Mr Baloch served as the provincial minister for agriculture in the coalition government headed by former chief minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo.

It was the second attack on his residence during the last one month.In the previous attack, a grenade was thrown at his house in his native town Panjgur, damaging a portion of the house. No deaths or injuries were reported in the attack.
