KHAIRPUR, Feb 4: Hundreds of growers of the Faiz Nahar canal in Hingorja took out a procession here on Friday against illegal watercourses. Reports said that tail-end growers of the Sobhodero taluka led by chairman of the Growers Action Committee in the taluka, Dr Fatah Memon, Kandero Sehto and Khuda Bux Sehto, staged a demonstration in Hingorja against illegal pipes and watercourses of the Faiz Nahar canal.

The protesters raised slogans against irrigation department for not taking any action against water thieves.

DOG BITE: A pye-dog bit six persons in the Amir Bux Khand village near Ahmedpur in the Kingri taluka here on Thursday night.

The injured were identified as Nizam Shar, Asif Shar, Sadam Shar, Naseem Khand, Sajjad Shar and Mehboob Shar.

The anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) was not available in the Pir Jo Goth rural health centre and other government hospitals.

SEMINAR: The Hamdard Social Welfare Organization (HSWO) held a dialogue programme here on Thursday on rights of children and labour.

Speakers of the programme said that people violating rights of children and labour were enemies of the country.

They said children and labour were marginalized sections of the society who did not have access to basic facilities like health, education, justice and employment.

THEFT: Watchman of the SCARP C-17 tube-well in the Pirpri deh, Mohammad Ali, lodged an FIR with the Tando Masti Khan police on Thursday against nine people for stealing coils and other material from a transformer of the tube-well.

The accused are: Wali Mohammad, Ghulam Hyder, Momin, Aziz, Peeral Razi Jagirani, Yasin, Shakeel, Gazi and Majoo.

FIR: Sub-engineer of irrigation in Gambat, Abdul Majeed Narejo, lodged an FIR on Thursday with the Gambat police against ten persons.

He stated in the FIR that the accused persons had illegally chopped 50 trees from Sarohi and Humayun small canals.
