QUETTA: The Vanaspati Ghee industry has been nationalised under an Ordinance promulgated today [Sept 2] and all factories, numbering 26 or 27, have been taken over by the Government with immediate effect. [Meanwhile, as reported by our staff reporter,] the Sind Government ... prohibited the publication of two Urdu dailies of Karachi — “Hurriyet” and “Jasarat” — for a period of 30 days and arrested the Editor of “Hurriyet”, Mr Anwar Khaleel. The Provincial Government also banned the publication of Sindhi daily “Mehran”, which comes out from Hyderabad, for a month. While the publications were banned under the West Pakistan Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960, Mr Anwar Khaleel was arrested under Sections 42 and 49 of the Defence of Pakistan Rules. Mr Anwar Khaleel was taken away from his Federal B Area residence at 6.55 p.m.
