HARIPUR: Armed robbers looted cash worth millions of rupees from a roadside branch of a bank in Hattar Industrial Estate area here, the police said on Monday.

They quoted manager of the bank as saying that four masked men armed with pistols and AK-47 assault rifles entered the branch at around 11.30am and held the guards and staff at gunpoint. He said the robbers, who were speaking Pashto, collected the cash worth Rs5.5 million from the cash counters and the strong room and fled.

The police said that none of the staff members or private security personnel suffered injuries as they did not put up any resistance.

The police said that the CCTV camera footages had been collected and the investigation was underway in the light of the facial figures and fingerprints.
