Hockey: Training camp in full swing

ISLAMABAD, Feb 5: Players attending the national hockey camp have begun their training in earnest for this month’s Test series with India.

As many as 26 players have reported at the Naseer Bunda Ground with three others expected to join in shortly.

Team manager Saeed Khan said on Sunday that Rehan Butt, Mudassar Ali Khan and Imran Khan would hopefully arrive by Monday.

The trials to select the team for the six-match home and away series are scheduled to be held on Wednesday with the squad likely to leave on Feb 14.

The first two Tests are in Chandigarh (Feb 17 and 18) and the third at Jalandhar on Feb 20. The Pakistan leg will see matches at Rawalpindi (Feb 22), Faisalabad (Feb 24) and Lahore (Feb 26).

The players who have arrived for the camp are: Nasir Ahmed, Zeeshan Ashraf, Adnan Maqsood, Imran Warsi, Tariq Aziz, Adnan Zakir, Akhtar Ali, Dilawar Hussain, M. Javaid, Azhar Iqbal, Muhammad Imran, Salman Akbar, Sajjad Anwar, Muhammad Zubair, Waqas Vikki, Yasir Islam, Kashif Yaqoob, Waqas Sharif, Mudassar Khan, Muhammad Shabbir, Muhammad Saqlain, Ihsanullah, Imran Shah, Muhammad Attique, Shabbir Khan and Aamir Shahzad.
