The police said that it appeared that he was killed over some personal enmity.

Call centre employee killed by robbers

A young man was shot dead by armed robbers in New Karachi near Saleem Centre on early Tuesday morning, police said.

Sir Syed SHO Shahid Taj said that the victim, Umer Javed, 28, worked at a call centre in Saddar. He along with his brother was on way home in Surjani Town on a motorbike when armed pillion riders indicated them to stop, apparently with an intention of committing a robbery, in Sector-11-A.

However, Umer did not stop the bike and, instead, kicked the suspects’ motorbike. Upon this, the muggers opened fire on him. As a result, he sustained two bullet wounds in the leg and neck. However, his brother remained unhurt.

He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, which referred him to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he died during treatment.
