REVISED SYLLABUS

REVISED SYLLABUS: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has revised its syllabus for the written exami- nation of Current Affairs, covering national and international develop- ments over the preceding five years instead of two. The revised syllabus has created trouble for those preparing for the post of inspectors and assistant directors in various departments. The FPSC should reconsider the decision.

SAFETY MEASURES: Recently, a gas cylinder exploded in a shop in Turbat, leaving the shopkeeper dead and many others injured. A similar incident at a fast food shop also caused destruction and injuries. The shops do not have fire extinguishers, and people are seen smoking inside such shops. This is criminal attitude. The government should take strict action against those who violate safety rules.

LOW-QUALITY MACHINES: The air-conditioners assembled and imported in the country are made of substandard materials. For instance, the copper pipes in the air-conditioners get easily damaged due to several gases floating in the environment.

This causes gas leakage in the air conditioners. It not only costs a lot of money to repair the air conditioners, but also creates inconvenience to the users. The authorities concerned need to strictly check the quality of the materials used in the air-conditioners.

THEFT IN METRO: My wife took the People’s Bus in Karachi recently to reach Fawara Chowk from Manzil Pump. Once she reached the destination and disembarked the bus, she found that her wallet had gone missing along with CNIC and other stuff.

Even the metro buses are not free from pick pockets. The administration and the passengers need to be vigilant.
