LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti adjourned a habeas corpus petition for the recovery of alleged missing anchorperson Imran Riaz on Wednesday. IGP Usman Anwar once again predicted good news within the next 10 to 15 days.

IGP Anwar and petitioner’s counsel Mian Ali Ashfaq were present in court when Justice Bhatti resumed hearing the petition.

When asked about the progress in the matter, the police chief informed the chief justice that the investigation was heading in the right direction, and the anchorperson’s father had complete knowledge of the police’s efforts.

The petitioner’s counsel supported the IGP’s stance, saying that police efforts could yield results at any time.

The chief justice adjourned the hearing until Sept 20.

The CJ directed the IGP to arrange a meeting with the anchorperson’s father and his lawyer.
