MARDAN: Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan has decided solarisation and upgradation of administration and academic blocks.

The decision was made in the 27th meeting of finance and planning committee of the university held here on Thursday with Vice-chancellor Prof Zahoorul Haq in the chair.

The meeting was attended by pro-VC Prof Sultan Ayaz and deans of university Prof Saeed Islam, Prof Zahir Shah and Prof Mohammad Tahir, deputy secretary of higher education Azhar Zahoor, deputy secretary of finance department Sahibzada Abbas, director of planning and development Kamran Khan, Dr Yassar Shah, registrar Sayim Sohail, deputy registrar Hassan Khan and treasurer Dr Shaista Irshad Khan.

The meeting discussed fee restructuring of academic programmes, fees of hostels and examination of affiliated colleges. The meeting also discussed establishment of squash academy and resource centre at the university.

The meeting also endorsed solarisation and upgradation of administration and academic blocks and street lights of the university. The vice-chancellor said on the occasion that financial sustainability was one of the strategic goals of the university.

MAYOR: Mardan City mayor Himayatullah Mayar has said that he has sent proposed amendments to local government law to Election Commission of Pakistan and governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for approval.

Addressing the city council meeting here on Thursday, he said that they held several meetings regarding the amendments to remove the problems being faced by the local governments.

The meeting of the council was presided over by Hashim Khan.

Mr Mayar urged the village and neighbourhood councillors to pass the budget for financial year 2023-24 as soon as possible.
