ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Thursday served another show cause notice on Sardar Latif Khosa for “defending/pleading and representing head of another political party without prior approval of [party] leadership”.

Previously, Mr Khosa had also been served a show cause notice for giving a statement in favour of the incarcerated PTI chairman.

The party’s move came after Mr Khosa did not turn up at the PPP’s CEC meeting held on Thursday in Lahore, despite an invitation. His fellow PPP leader, Aitzaz Ahsan, was also absent from Thursday’s proceedings in Lahore.

Mr Khosa was asked to reply to the notice in seven days, or else disciplinary action could be taken against him resulting in his expulsion from the party.

The show cause notice said: “You being member of central executive committee are defending/pleading/representing a head of another political party without prior approval of leadership …while delivering a speech in lawyers function you criticised the state policy regarding [the] cipher. You are hereby through this show cause notice asked to explain why disciplinary action not be taken against you for working against the party policy; the reply should reach the undersigned within seven days, failing disciplinary action will be taken against you by withdrawing your membership...”

Sardar Latif Khosa was not available for comment, but a media report said he had claimed that no one could expel him from the PPP. When contacted, Khurram Latif Khosa, son of the PTI chief’s counsel, told Dawn: “Under the constitution of the country and Practitioner Act it is our right to pursue cases of anyone”.

Mr Khurram termed the PPP’s notice as “a rotten piece of paper which has no legal sanctity”.
