KOHAT: The Kohat and Orakzai police arrested seven drug peddlers, including three women, and seized over 1,000 kilogrammes of hashish and about one kg ice drug from them on Saturday.

A press release issued from the office of Kohat district police officer Farhan Khan said the Jarma police stopped a passenger coach at the Muslimabad checkpost and recovered nine kilogrammes of hashish from three women travelling in the vehicle.

Similarly, the Junglekhel police seized 1,040 kilogrammes of hashish from a drug dealer, Gul Moeen.

The Bilitang police arrested a man, Roman Shah, and recovered 850 grams of ice drug from him.

Meanwhile, the Orakzai police foiled an attempt to smuggle 35 kilogrammes of hashish to Kohat through a mountainous terrain by arresting two smugglers on Friday night.

PROBE: The anti-corruption department (ACD) of Kohat during a raid at the tehsil municipal administration’s office confiscated the record of vehicles, expenses of diesel and petrol.

According to a statement issued here on Saturday, ACD assistant director Ibraheemullah Khan had started investigations on the directives of the department’s provincial head Arifullah Yousufzai after receiving reports of funds’ embezzlement by the TMA.

Mr Ibraheemullah told Dawn the department had been receiving complaints of corruption in the consumption of fuel by TMA officials. He said all reports would be made public after completion of investigations.

KILLED: A minor boy was killed and a girl was seriously injured when a tree fell on them while waiting for a vehicle to go home after school on the Bypass Road here on Saturday.

Awais, 8, son of provincial president of Rah-i-Haq party Qari Ubaidullah, received critical injuries and died in the hospital. Seven-year-old Javeria sustained serious injuries and was shifted to the KDA Teaching Hospital.
