RAWALPINDI: The twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad received another spell of rain on Sunday, turning the weather pleasant.
Rain started early Sunday morning and continued for more than two hours, varying from light to heavy. Puddles were seen on roads and streets. However, sun overpowered the clouds in the afternoon and the weather became clear.
The meteorological department recorded 11mm of rain at Chaklala, 17 at Shamsabad and 27mm at Kutchery in Rawalpindi while 15mm at Zero Point, 36mm at Bokra, 15mm at Saidpur, 17mm at Golra and 41mm at Airport were recorded in Islamabad. Dry weather has been forecast in the twin cities during the next 24 hours.
The Met Office official said moderate monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal were penetrating in the upper and central parts while a westerly wave was also present over upper and western parts of the country.
He said rain-wind/thundershower was expected in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, lower Sindh, eastern Balochistan and Kashmir while heavy falls had been forecast in lower Sindh during the forecast period.
