DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The former employees of Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan set up a protest camp against non-payment of their pension at GPO Chowk here on Monday.

A large number of former employees of the university including retired professors and other officials participated in the protest camp. They said that they were suffering from various diseases but pension had not been paid to them for the last 14 months.

The pensioners participating in the protest camp said that their financial conditions deteriorated due to severe inflation and they were unable to meet their needs.

They said that they had millions of rupees in their funds but the university administration was exploiting them by using the amount for other purposes.

The protesters alleged that the acting vice-chancellor was using the resources of the university without any hesitation. They alleged that he was depriving them of their rights by making recruitments on political basis.

They said that some pensioners had not been given gratuity and monthly pension was not being paid to them due to which they were facing financial crisis.

The protestors also chanted slogans against the university administration. The representatives of various governmental and social organisations participated in the camp and expressed solidarity with the pensioners of Gomal University.
