CHARSADDA: One person was killed and five others received injuries when a van rammed into a roadside electricity pole on Tarnab Road here on Monday.

The Suzuki van, going from Tarnab to Charsadda, went out of control of the driver when it reached Khazana Dheri and rammed into a roadside pylon.

As a result, five passengers identified as Azam, Noorul Haq, Ibrar, Tawheedullah, Musawwir alias Janan and driver Alaf Khan suffered injuries.

They were shifted to district headquarters hospital Charsadda where Musawir succumbed to his injuries.

PROTEST: The local traders took out a protest rally against raids of Pesco officials on their outlets in the name of operation against power thieves and defaulters.

The rally, staged on the call of Traders Federation Charsadda, reached Farooq Azam Chowk after passing through various roads. The participants of the rally announced to stage protests on daily basis in front of Pesco office in Charsadda.

The protest rally was led by central president of Traders Federation Charsadda Lal Mohammad Lal.

Addressing the protesters Lal Mohammad Lal and Mian Rahim Badshah said that traders fully supported the operation against power thieves and defaulters but corruption and blackmailing in the name of operation was intolerable. They alleged that some Pesco officials harassed traders unnecessarily.

They said that Pesco officials were harassing traders in the name of operation. They said that traders were against electricity theft and illegal power connections. They said that there was no illegal power connection in the entire market.

The speakers said that traders were paying their commercial bills regularly and were playing their due role in boosting the national economy. However, they said that Pesco officials were harassing them.

They threatened to hold protest on daily basis in front of local Pesco office if the relevant officials were not replaced within 48 hours.
