RAWALPINDI: The Punjab caretaker government has asked the administration of Murree to chalk out a plan for improving waste management and beautification of the hill station.

This was stated by Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha while presiding over separate meetings regarding improvement of facilities in Murree and issues being faced by Kohsar University.

Kohsar University Vice Chancellor Dr Habib Bukhari and other officials participated in the second meeting. The vice chancellor briefed the commissioner about the ongoing educational activities in the university, new programmes for the promotion of education, especially for girls, and the establishment of laboratories.

The meeting discussed various proposals, including strategies for improving waste management in Murree, recycling initiatives and waste collection programmes. The meeting also discussed measures to increase the aesthetic appeal of Murree.

It included measures such as possible implementation of landscaping projects, beautification of streets and creating a more visually appealing environment for residents and tourists.

The meeting also reviewed plans to set up a museum on Mall Road. Discussions were held regarding themes, sources of funding and logistics required to build the museum.

The commissioner said students of the region were benefiting from the ongoing teaching programmes at Kohsar University. Getting higher education at the doorstep of students will bring a positive change at the regional level.

Apart from Murree, thousands of students from Kotli Sattian, Hazara, Guliyat and the adjacent villages of Azad Kashmir are benefiting from the Kohsar university.

The commissioner appreciated the efforts of the vice chancellor for establishing a high quality university in the region and initiating many projects of local needs.

Later, the commissioner visited Government Boys High School Lawrence College.

On this occasion, the commissioner said it was the duty of people associated with the education department to provide quality education to students.

Teachers should attend classes with preparation and the staff should ensure their attendance during school hours. Any kind of lapse in performance of academic duties will not be tolerated, he added.
